Why a violet stone?
I'm named for a Scottish island, so I grew up maybe a little enamoured of standing stones. Iona, in some baby name books (or at least one that I read), means "violet coloured stone", but my understanding is that the name got this meaning from the fact that the island Iona may take on a purplish look when the heather blooms.
Whatever the truth of the matter, I was a bit shy to start trading online initially under my own name, and liked the story behind my name enough that I adopted the online name Violet Stone as a moniker for a time. To me it has come to represent one part of my art and design portfolio, much as the found trinkets I geek over and sell at markets fall under the Pip's Found Pretties Collection.
